Mysteriousness Lurking in Jamaica’s Halls

It is farewell for Jamaica High School or is it a beginning of something new? There will be a new College Board School nested within Jamaica’s inviting environment for the up and coming school year.

Officials aren’t releasing any information as of yet because it will be better for all student to discover this new news at the same time and be presented with an opportunity to have their unanswered questions about the nested school.
It is projected that a group of one hundred academically competitive students will be isolated in one of Jamaica’s alluring corners, under the scrutiny of their own principal and taught by different teachers aside from Jamaica’s finest.

Students are full of questions surrounding this mystery school. “I want to know if they will be participating in Jamaica’s activities,” stated senior Benita Seepersaud. Another student, Noorjahan Ally said, “I want to know what their policies are going to be and if they will have a dress code.”

As to how this unknown school will be administered and the rules the staff and students will have to follow are still unknown to the present students at Jamaica. According to Ada Suarez, this mystery will be solved very soon when the principal will address the students himself.

Splendid Indeed!

From the author of the bestselling novel, The Kite Runner, a brand new sensation was released this year, A Thousand Splendid Suns.
Just when everything about Afghanistan was starting to fade, the hardships of two Afghan women from two separate worlds in one country emerged and evolve into an emotional thriller.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is an unbelievable account of thirty years of Afghan history and heart touching tale about betrayal, family, friendship, faith, and love. “It is a splendid book with a sad story, which made my heart ache and stomach clench. Hosseini's fusion of historical events and human experiences makes the book unforgettable,” stated Afnan Haq.

Mariam and Laila are two very distinctive afghan women who are brought together due to war and fate. The bond that the women form as their relationship escalates from enemies to best friends embodies the exact meanings of loyalty and friendship. It also, shows the sacrifices a mother will offer to protect her children.

Even though this breathtaking novel revolves around the struggle and suffering of two women, men also enjoy reading it. “The book was great. I read the Kite Runner and loved it so when I found out that Khaled Hosseini was releasing another book; I just had to read it,” said Harmindar Singh. He went on to say, “One word couldn't describe how great the book was. It had so many details in it. I guess that most touching part of the book is how Hosseini covers the life of the two main characters and how their lives become intertwined as the book goes on. It’s beautiful how the story line goes and the ending was simply brilliant.” “I would recommend it anyone who has read the Kite Runner and if you haven’t then this is a must read book any way. Once you start reading this book, you will be compelled to keep on reading it until you are finished with it. Just a few words to describe this book would be satisfying, perfect, brilliant, and amazing,” he passionately stated.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is indeed splendid and with tear filled eyes touches the reader’s heart and create and image that will last forever. The next time you decide to stop by the library, do not hesitate to pick up a copy and read it to your heart’s content. It is a wonderful story, filled with magnificent characters and great accounts of history in a part of the world that is hardly ever talked about.

Beaver's Heading Towards Championship

Original Home Game pic comming soon...

With their last home game against Newtown High School, the Beavers, especially the seniors were looking forward to a victory. Unfortunately New Town took home the victory, 49-46.

Not only was the game well played, but peers, faculty and parents were there to support the players. “I’m here because it is their last home game and they better win,” commented senior Jason_____. Indeed the Beavers had an excellent chance because of their defense . “So far so good, they better win,” stated Mr. Willis, father of player, James Willis. During the course of the game Captain, Tijae Tait had a massive amount of defensive rebounds and played with heart on the court, so did all of the players.

Prior to the fierce game against Newtown, the Beavers were confident and hopeful to win. They were prepared but did not play as a team, according to Coach Crossland. “Feel good, feel good, to win,” Captain Tijae Tait passionately expressed before the game. However, after the game he commented, “we ight.” It was exciting for them, especially the seniors, who would be playing for the last time in the Jamaica High School gym. This brought in emotional moments because of their desire to win. They wanted to win. All spectators also had high hopes for Jamaica to embrace victory. “I feel like we going to dominate and keep control of the game. This is a definite win for them,” stated Officer Wright.

“They had a game, just didn’t finish it. It’s a team effort and they didn’t play as a team,” stated Coach Alex Crossland.

Despite Jamaica's their in the final home game, the Beavers did not give up but instead dominated in their last away game against August Martin High School , 55:64. With the Beavers final record of 9-7, their hard work, preparation and desire to triumph, they will be going to the playoffs in hopes of making it to the championship.
